My story is still in the works.
I don't know where my passion for art will lead, but I know how it began.
In 7th grade I started attending a Christian umbrella group for homeschoolers.
They had a basic drawing class and I decided to take it just for fun.
When I picked a seat, I had no idea the best artist in the class would be sitting next to me.
I got inspired from her, and she let me watch her draw and she gave me tips when I asked.
She pushed me from the very beginning to want to get better.
Before art, I had absolutely no hobbies, no interests, besides a little pleasure reading.
Just like anyone in 7th grade, I didn't know who I was yet, and just followed the flow.
Art gave me footing.
I wasn't good at first.
But I loved art so much, I drew every spare moment I had.
I did more than the teacher assigned and she started to take more notice in me.
It's baby steps in the beginning, and they're all important.
After 7th grade I didn't take another art class until Junior year of high school,
I had continued to get better on my own, but regretted not taking art class every year,
I missed out on continuing to get inspired to push like the students around me.
So,
What have I learned so far?
Artists inspire one another.
I like helping artists that are just starting out, because I was there once.
And I love seeing works from people who are masters, continuing to inspire me to push harder.
I wonder what the next part of my story will be?
My creative endevours continue on....
I always think that it's inspiring when someone finds something that (as you put it) gives someone "footing". I love that you found that in art. I think I got that same feeling from swimming competitively.
ReplyDeleteI looked through some of your stuff, and I can see a very distinctive style (and a whole lot of passion)!
I'd love for you to check out some of my stuff (if you have the time). I'd love your feedback.
Keep drawing and inspiring!
Steph
