I've been sketching like crazy since I'm on break and have run straight into an art block. Owww.
I'm pushing through it though!

For some reason I wanted to sketch a woman who tripped over a log during a nature tour and the hot nature park ranger comes to help her up. She's obviously flushed and embarrassed.

She kinda turned into some sort of Roman lady.

I finalllllly watched Pride and Prejudice for the first time ever. I loooved it!
I'm now listening to the audiobook whenever I paint!

"You have bewitched me, body and soul."

Attempting colored pencils again.

A week before with colored pencils.

2nd Dreamlands painting. I added another layer and the ship is darker now...should've uploaded the updated photo haha.

3rd Dreamlands painting. Cliff's edge, somewhere in the middle of mountains and hills.

A quick watercolor while making supper last night.

My oil painting homework is finally complete.
Assignment was to use 3 of 5 shapes we had practiced and the primary colors.
It was right before break that I sketched this on the canvas and was obviously into the Christmas mood!
You might make me paint the primary colors, but I can still make it Christmas-y!
The snow is piling up outside my window and I'm thrilled!
And I'm wearing my evenstar necklace in honor of starting Lord of the Rings tonight.
Have a great weekend!
Holy gracious Stephanie how are you so talented and creative with all these different mediums?? I love every single detail!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hands holding the bit of ocean with the ship really made me stop and stare. And it's on black paper!! I keep forgetting I want to try that!
And the oil painting! And Tea Time! And you saw Pride and Prejudice!! I love that one <3
Enjoy the Lord of the Rings! It would be amazing if we could watch that together someday :)
Oh! And have fun with your snooow!!
I literally cannot stop looking at that hands/ocean/ship drawing.
DeleteI feel like the bug from A Bugs Life: 'I can't help it...it's so beautifuuul...'
Awww, Olivia. I seriously couldn't have read your comment at a better time.
DeleteI saw it last night in bed while I was grieving the end of the Lord of the Rings...it sounds ridiculous, but it really hit me hard this time! The Return of the King is so emotional, with Gandalf and his talk with Pippin about how death is just another path, one that we all must take. And basically the whole movie. It's such a great film. It feels so real. And I would looove to watch it with you someday! If you can put up with my sobbing :P
AGH. Thank you so much, girl. I've been just doubting my art double time lately for some reason, but it impresses you, and that's enough for me <3
Yes! I actually sketched out the basic shape for the hands and went around it with black India ink, but a similar result can occur on black paper as well :)
I saw a picture of hands holding water on Pinterest and immediately thought of the quote "Water is fascinating, it can hold up a ship, yet slip through your fingers." So, voila!
Pride and Prejudice is so good! I'm ashamed I wasn't interested before now.
I can't get enough of it!
Aww, I'm so glad you like it! <3
