Sing

I'm suddenly sketching cute little birdies.

A young gnome and his sparrow.

(Oh her eyelashes are horrible...I didn't notice that until now. I should redo them haha)

Modern Princess.
No refrence for this except for a picture of a girl looking down, and my hand.

Watercolor Doodles

Britney and I have been watching movie after movie during our girl weekend...and I got bored, so I dragged a table into the living room and set up my watercolors.

'Sunrise Salutations'

'God's Promise & Irish Blessings'

I have two more sketched that I haven't watercolored yet.
I'm having fun and glad I'm on Spring Break!

Have a great weekend!

Blooming Sunflower

This is the photo I used as reference since I didn't have any sunflowers on hand.

I'm sort of ashamed to say I spent two hours on this pitiful drawing.
That's how much oil pastels love working against me.
This drawing would look amazing done in colored pencil, or watercolor.
(I can't wait to get back to a medium I love)
But hey, the jar looks okay!
I've never been good at transparency.

My work space today.

Have a great week!

Bubbling with Excitement, Joy, and Possibility

I'm trying something completely CRAZY and new and exciting.
I'm aiming to open an Etsy shop this summer!
After not getting my library job, I decided to make better use of my time (when I'm not busy with school) and continue doing what I love to do- Art.
Opening an Etsy shop is something I've wanted to do, but have never seen myself as ready for it.
And to be honest, I'll never feel ready- I just have to take the plunge!
So, I'm starting out simple with fun necklaces/ keychains.
I'll move in to prints way farther down the road.
First things first- building up merchandise!

And my beautiful, beautiful, Winsor and Newton watercolors came in from the UK finally!
I've been saving up for this set, and they weren't for a horribly terrible price on Amazon.

Endless possibilities await!
(Ignore my dart board in the background..haha...and my makeup-less face..)

Just look at all of the colorsssss!

Have a wonderful day!

Clouds and Forests

Normally I'm able to adapt to any art medium thrown at me, but I'm really struggling with oil pastels.
The pastels have no tip to them and are really hard for detailed work.
Apparently it's supposed to be pretty, but abstract.
I'm trying!

Clouds were actually pretty fun...I want to do more and get better at it, since I love staring at the clouds so much, I might as well figure out how to draw them!

My teacher wanted me to loosen up a little, so I loosed up with foliage, and I think it turned out pretty good!
I like the name the most, 'Incandescent Forest'
I followed a picture of a forest online, but only used a section of it and completely changed the coloring.
That's the beauty of being an artist.
It's how we see things, not necessarily how they really look.

Have a good week!

At the Summit

I needed to get some adventure pictures for the yearbook, so after church last Sunday we went to a nearby park. It was 60 degrees and lovely! I had no idea how much I needed the temperature change.
The tallest mountain in the distance is Sugarloaf Mountain, I've hiked it and it's gorgeous.

I looked back at Britney with a smile on my face and told her
"I just feel like shouting!"
"Just do it!"
I turned back into the wind, the happiest I've felt in a while and let a shout escape my lungs.
