Blooming Sunflower

This is the photo I used as reference since I didn't have any sunflowers on hand.

I'm sort of ashamed to say I spent two hours on this pitiful drawing.
That's how much oil pastels love working against me.
This drawing would look amazing done in colored pencil, or watercolor.
(I can't wait to get back to a medium I love)
But hey, the jar looks okay!
I've never been good at transparency.

My work space today.

Have a great week!

  1. Nooo it looks awesoooome!
    I love it :)
I find that when I imitate other people's work, I tend to dislike the results more than if I draw from life or my head...haha. That was completely no help at all.

    1. Aww, thanks!
It's actually growing on me now. I have it hanging on my closet door.
Sometimes drawings freshly done automatically look bad because you've spent so much time with them and know their imperfections, now it looks okay to me!

      Oh absolutely! I don't enjoy comparing. :P
